Fundraising
The Epilepsy Services Foundation, Inc. (ESF) was founded in 1973.
The focus of ESF continues to be persons with epilepsy and their families. It is a foundation. Its mission is to create a better future and environment for persons affected by epilepsy living in West Central Florida. Board Members and other volunteers work to provide funding for medical and support services, scholarships for camp, family weekends, medical and healthcare professionals and college bound students and educational programs. The Foundation raises more than $50,000 (net) annually.
To achieve its goals, the Foundation has developed several programs:
- Special Events
- Direct Mail Campaign
- Grants Program
- Contributions
- Leave-A-Legacy/Endowment Program
- Volunteer Program
Building a volunteer base is also important to meeting ESF's goals. The ESF offers opportunities for you to channel your time, talents, friendship and caring to work in improving the world you live in.
Special Events
The Epilepsy Services Foundation offers a number of special events annually. The events are designed to increase awareness about epilepsy and the agency and to involve the larger community in the support of persons affected by epilepsy.
The Ribs for Kids is held at COSTCO in Brandon, FL. The event is held prior to Halloween. Master Barbecue Chef, Tommy Pate, prepares the huge slabs of ribs. The cost is $20/slab. Rather than a trick, Ribs for Kids is a real treat for persons who like finger-licking good barbecue. Rub or sauce is included.
The next Ribs for Kids events will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011.
The Epilepsy Services Foundation is partnering with the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida to hold the largest cupcake sale in Florida’s history. The cupcake event will be held in November to celebrate and support National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Please join us! The cost is $1.00/cupcake.
The Purple Day/Walk for Epilepsy is held in March of each year at Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland, FL and Lake Seminole Park in Seminole, FL.
