Hare Racing Experience
Held the Saturday before Easter, the Hare Racing Experience is the perfect family event.
For the past twenty-one years, the Hare Racing Experience attracted hundreds of bay area runners and their families . In 2014, runners and families will come to the University of South Florida Track and Field Stadium. Last year's participation was overwhelming with 600 runners . The 2014 event will feature 5K and 1 mile races and fun runs for kids 6 and under.
Event day activities include food and beverages provided by Sam's Club, Panera Bread, JM Distributing and Einstein Bagels. Also planned are activities for children as well as health and fitness booths. Each participant receives a goody bag and t-shirt. Raffle prizes are donated by area businesses. Many young children come for a picture with the Easter Bunny and Ronald McDonald.
The Epilepsy Services Foundation holds this special event to raise funds to carry out its mission "to create a better future and environment for persons affected by epilepsy living in West Central Florida" . We use part of the funds to provide scholarships for kids with epilepsy to attend a medical-supervised camp, scholarships for families of kids with epilepsy to attend a family weekend retreat, medical and college/technical school scholarships for persons affected by epilepsy, seminars that promote new initiatives and partnerships in the field of epilepsy and funding for medical support services.
The 22nd Annual Hare Racing Experience will be held April 19, 2014. To register for the Hare Racing experience, download the registration form and send it back to the Epilepsy Services Foundation. You can also register at Fit2Run in Tampa. Online registration available at www.active.com (credit card accepted at this site).
