Hare Racing Experience
Held the Saturday before Easter, the Hare Racing Experience is the perfect family event.
For the past seventeen years, the Hare Racing Experience attracted hundreds of bay area runners and their families . In 2010, runners and families will come to the University of South Florida Campus Sports Fields. Last year's participation was overwhelming with 428 runners . The 2010 event will feature 5K and 1 mile races and kids' fun runs.
Event day activities include food and beverages provided by DoubleTree Guest Suites— Tampa Bay, Panera Bread and Sweet Tomatoes. Also planned are activities for children as well as health and fitness booths. Each participant receives a goody bag and t-shirt. Raffle prizes are donated by area businesses. Many young children come for a picture with the Easter Bunny and Ronald McDonald.
The Epilepsy Services Foundation holds this special event to raise funds to carry out its mission “ to create a better future and environment for persons affected by epilepsy living in West Central Florida” . We use part of the funds to provide grants to organizations providing medical and other support services to persons affected by epilepsy living in West Central Florida, scholarships for kids with epilepsy to attend a medical-friendly camp, scholarships for families of kids with epilepsy to attend a family weekend retreat, college/technical school scholarships for persons affected by epilepsy and seminars that promote new initiatives and partnerships in the field of epilepsy.
The 18th Annual Hare Racing Experience will be held April 3, 2010. To register for the Hare Racing experience, download the registration form and send it back to the Epilepsy Services Foundation. You can also register at Feet First in Tampa and St. Petersburg . Online registration available at www.active.com (credit card accepted at this site).
